This research aims to explore the impact of Organizational Support (OS) and Workplace Belongingness (WB) have on the level of Organizational Commitment (OC) among layoff survivors in the context of the Indian IT sector. The study uses a mixed method approach, where the quantitative data (N= 203) were collected from employees through surveys, and the qualitative data (N= 7) was collected using in-depth interviews with the participants who witnessed layoffs in their current organization. Results suggest that OS and WB have a positive correlation with OC; these factors are significant predictors of OC. However, there is no difference in the level of commitment among employees who witnessed layoffs and those who didnt witness the same in person. Qualitative insights further emphasize the emotional toll of layoffs by highlighting the importance of communication, empathetic managerial support, and equitable workload distribution. The study’s findings provide essential insights for developing HR policies that aim at enhancing employee resilience and help foster a supportive organizational culture in the face of layoffs.Published
